Both Linsen Park and Kangle Park are located on Section 1, Nanjing East Road between Zhongshan North Road and Xinsheng North Road. They are separated into two parks by Linshen North Road, including Linsen Park with an area of about 2.9 hectares and Kangle Park with an area of about 1.4 hectares. With a total area of about 4.3 hectares, they form a large park in the Taipei business area.
During Japanese colonization, it was a cemetery of Japanese people in Taiwan. After restoration, it became the accommodation for veterans from mainland China. Over the years, it has become an icon of conflict in both history and vision. It was not until March 1997 that local buildings were demolished and transformed into a park through simple greening by the end of 1997 due to urban renewal and disaster prevention. The park construction projects followed suit and were completed for use in October 2003 and March 2002 respectively.
Currently, bouquets of flowers arranged according to the urban texture and the paradise for biodiversity the main themes of park planning. Besides preserving the historical and cultural context, inclusion with all kinds of nature is maintained to provide residents with the opportunities of nature education and related activities.
Linsen Park is equipped with a multifunctional sensory experience zone, such as the rockery garden (touch), floral corridor leisure area (taste), fragrance garden (smell), and activity lawn and children’s playground. Kangle Park is equipped with facilities including the family water spray square (vision), water fountain (hearing), flowering tree hillside, stroll path, buffer forest, and Public Toilets. They are ideal spots for family leisure.
