YongChunPi Wetland Park is located at the foot of Sishoushan in Xinyi District. Water in the pond comes from the Baoshan River and Wuming River, which also bring rich biodiversity and environmental resources to the area. About 100 years ago, it was a pond with glittering sunshine where ancients used to boat and make poems. Due to land development, the pond gradually lost its water storage function. When the national government event built the Yongchun Barracks there after retreating to Taiwan, the lake view and mountain scene became history. In 2015 Mayor Wen-Je Ko directed the local community building which included opinion discussion with citizen participation. Four years later, the Taipei City Geotechnical Engineering Office proceeded with land acquisition, planning, design, and construction to re-present the yesteryear glory of this centennial pond.
To inherite the original pond appearance and provide citizens with a rich ecological experience, the park has been planned to reduce environmental damage for ecological restoration by planning an ecological restoration area, a buffer area, and a human activity area. In consideration of the scenery and ecological changes in the four seasons, up to 38 species of bird- and butterfly-attracting arbors that change colors in the four seasons are selected for the park for visitors to enjoy colorful plants in the reflection over the pond.
